1Long Hot Summer
"While the nation honors the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. on Monday, three states celebrate another man as well. In Arkansas, Alabama and Mississippi, the slain civil rights leader shares a state holiday with Robert E. Lee, commanding officer of the Confederate Army." . . . what a slap in the face!
2Whole Lotta History
It was a dark and stormy night. Really. There was a knock at the door. The well-dressed gentleman on my doorstep introduced himself and proceeded to ask me a rhetorical question: "Are you interested in good health?" For a moment I pondered putting an end to the encounter by saying, "No, I would rather be cold, hungry, and sick,"
3Life Got Cold
Video Podcast of Thao Nguyen (of Thao with The Get Down Stay Down). Short discussion (fun - she is very cool) and a vid for the song "Bag of Hammers" which is very cool. This one's a treat!
4Love Machine
Xbox Live has degenerated into a virtual wild west where anything goes and few are held accountable. The degree of malevolence and anti-social behavior on display there can be nauseating. The raw frequency of belligerent, racist, sexist, and otherwise contemptible behavior raises important questions for gamers who care about video game culture.
5Something Kinda Ooooh
AP story about honorably discharged Marine hero who may lose HD status because of his peaceful protest. Military trying to revoke his benefits and make him repay money used to obtain his degree under the GI Bill- all because he wore fatigues (with all military insignia removed) during an anti-war demonstration. Every young person should read this!
6I'll Stand by You
I was looking for followup's about the UN Rapporteur visit and report, and I was not disappointed, well, I was. But I was kind of expecting this reaction. Damage control to protect the status quo through the medium of the corporate media. Today's Ottawa Citizen, an editorial. No name attached......Coward. lol.
7Jump
IN the 1980s, when the great classical voices of his generation were honing their skills in music conservatories, Torrie Allen was wailing on a drum kit in Madame Wong's infamous L.A. nightclub.

9No Good Advice
HAILEY, Idaho (AP) - Call it a "Rocky Mountain High." One of his measures would decriminalize marijuana, another would make arresting people for pot the lowest police priority. The other two would make industrial hemp and medical marijuana legal. Some Hailey officials fear if any of the initiatives pass, costly lawsuits could follow.
